In partnership with Safe Night LLC, the GVCCC launched the first voluntary restaurant and bar accreditation model in New York City called "Village Safe Spot." The model focuses on introducing standards, policies, and training to reduce alcohol-related harm and ensure patron safety in bars, restaurants, nightclubs, and special event venues.
In support of the Village Safe Spot model, the Chamber facilitated a three-day training at Lenox Health Greenwich Village during the last week of September. Attendees were trained in the Proactive Alliance relationship-based approach to improving prevention strategies rather than relying on enforcement as the primary tool.
We'd like to thank the following agencies and organizations for attending:
New York Police Department (6th and 9th Precincts)
MADD New York, New Jersey, & Pennsylvania
Lower East Side Partnership
Lenox Health Greenwich Village
Excel Security Corporation
Bleecker Street Bar
Peter McManus Cafe
The Village Safe Spot program is made possible by Pernod Ricard, who is committed to expanding their "Good Nights Are Safe Nights" initiative across the U.S. and Canada, setting a new standard in the hospitality industry dedicated to promoting responsible drinking and creating safer nightlife environments.
